As the college football season rolls on, judging how good a team is or where they rank among others gets trickier and trickier. The Iowa Hawkeyes have become one of those teams that seem to be divisive.
Iowa has had Indiana and Oregon on the ropes only to see things slip away in the final moments. Despite the losses, they have proven that Iowa can contend with some of the best programs in the country and may not be just below them, but quite possibly right there.
This week’s CBS Sports Power Rankings believe Iowa is trending in the right direction and even gave them a three-spot bump up to No. 16 in America.

These rankings set up an interesting matchup for Iowa this weekend when they travel to Los Angeles to take on the USC Trojans. USC, still in the College Football Playoff race, is sitting at No. 15 in CBS Sports Power Rankings and will now get an Iowa team that is going to have to rally around each other to bounce back.
