For the first time this season, the Miami Dolphins strung together back-to-back wins by following up their upset of the Buffalo Bills with an overtime victory against the Washington Commanders.
Now the Dolphins get a much-needed bye week to rest up and get healthy before a pair of very winnable matchups with the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets.

While the pair of wins for the Dolphins didn’t do anything to pull the team into the AFC East race, they’re lurking near the bottom of the conference wild card race. It’ll take a lot more wins for that to matter at all, but here’s how the AFC playoff field currently looks with only a Monday Night Football game between the Dallas Cowboys and Las Vegas Raiders left to be played in Week 11:
-
New England Patriots: 9-2
-
Pittsburgh Steelers: 6-4
-
Buffalo Bills: 7-3
-
Los Angeles Chargers: 7-4
On the outside:
-
Kansas City Chiefs: 5-5
-
Miami Dolphins: 4-7
Every other team in the AFC is at three wins or fewer.
While the Dolphins sitting just one win behind the trio of «in the hunt» teams looks enticing, the seven losses are the big issue for Miami. Even if the Dolphins won out to get to 10-7, it would be no guarantee that a trio of other contenders take the wild card spots anyway.
