Women’s Soccer Season Ends Against Duke

The 7-seed UCF Women’s Soccer team’s season came to an end after being defeated, 1-0, by the 2-seed Duke Blue Devils in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament on the road Thursday.

Duke scored the only goal of the night in the first half, courtesy of forward Mia Minestrella, in the 35th minute of the match. The Blue Devils continued to grind on the attack, getting 16 shots on goal, but redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Genesis Perez Watson made sure to keep them from scoring, coming up with 15 saves, a career high and tied for the fourth-most saves in a single match in program history.

Offensively, the Knights fought hard, as senior forwards Liz Worden and Rajanah Reed both shot twice, each getting one shot on goal, with sophomore midfielder Ainsley Moy and junior midfielder Honoka Homano shooting their own shots to try to get UCF on the board.

“We’re a team that stayed together and believed in one another and fought to the end today,” head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said after the match.

The Knights end their season at 12-4-5 (5-1-5 Big 12), their most wins since 2017.

Men’s Soccer Season Ends In D.C.

The UCF Men’s Soccer season came to an end Sunday night in Washington, D.C., with the Knights falling to 7-seed Georgetown, 2-0.

While the Hoyas got off more shots than the Knights, 7-2, during the first half, both of their goals came in the second half, where the Knights found more scoring opportunities, 8-4. However, both teams ended up with four shots on goal apiece.

Both of Georgetown’s goals were scored by forward Mitchell Barker, the first in the 69th minute and another in the 80th minute with a header that snuck under the crossbar and over the head of UCF goalkeeper Juanvi Munoz, who recorded two saves on the night.

After starting 2-5-1, the Knights’ season ends with a Sun Belt Tournament title and an 11-7-3 (4-3-2 Sun Belt) record, their most wins in a season since 2019.

Volleyball Swept By #9 Arizona State

The UCF Volleyball team wrapped up its 2025 home slate on Wednesday, losing in three sets to No. 9 Arizona State.

It marks the sixth straight UCF match that ended in three sets, with the Knights going 3-2 during the stretch.

Outside hitter Avah Armor led the Knights in defeat with 11 kills, though Arizona State ended up outhitting UCF (16-11, 7-9 Big 12) by a large margin, .406 to .131.

The Sun Devils (23-3, 14-1 Big 12) clinched a share of the 2025 Big 12 Championship following this win and Kansas losing at Utah.

The Knights will embark on their last road trip of the regular season next week, traveling to Kansas to face Kansas State on Wednesday, followed by No. 13 Kansas on Saturday. UCF enters the week ranked #62 in the RPI rankings and will need to finish with a 9-9  in the Big 12 and 18 wins overall, which would put them in the conversation for an at-large NCAA Tournament bid.

Women’s Basketball Takes Care Of FAMU

The UCF Women’s Basketball team took care of business against Florida A&M, defeating the Rattlers, 76-59.

The Knights dominated in the paint, getting a 44-24 advantage there over the Rattlers, though guard Leah Harmon led UCF’s scoring thanks to going 2-2 from three-point land. Meanwhile, guard Summer Yancy was right behind her with 12 points, most of which came from going 8-10 from the free-throw line.

Yancy was one of eight Knights players who came off the bench and combined for 41 points, or about 54%, of UCF’s total points for the night.

While the Knights created some separation in the third quarter, winning it 21-6, the Rattlers rallied in the fourth quarter, 26-17, to close the gap. It was not enough to get within 10 points of the Knights, but it was just one point off the 27 points that Florida A&M scored in the entire first half.

As for turnovers, the Knights gave away 22 to the Rattlers, making it the third time this season that they have given away 20 or more turnovers.

“We got to be better,” head coach Sytia Messer said after the game. “We’re taking too many chances. We’re trying to force certain situations. Twenty-two turnovers is unacceptable, and we got to be better than that. You’re not going to give yourself a chance if you continue with the turnovers we had. So, that’s something that’s going to be a point of emphasis for our coaching staff.”

The Knights conclude their season-opening home stand on Monday at 6 p.m. against South Carolina State before traveling to San Juan, Puerto Rico, to compete in the Discover Puerto Rico Classic. UCF faces off against East Carolina at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Wake Forest at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday and Rice at 4 p.m. on Friday.
