3 Nets takeaways from 116-99 loss to Bucks

The Brooklyn Nets (3-16) were coming off a tough loss to the Philadelphia 76ers and had to turn around to play Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks (9-12) in less than 24 hours. Brooklyn also came away from the 76ers with plenty of injuries and it looks like the lack of available bodies contributed to the Nets going home with yet another loss.

The Nets lost to the Bucks 116-99 on Saturday in a game where Brooklyn fell behind by as many as 32 points thanks to them turning the ball over too much. Rookie Danny Wolf had his breakout game of the season with 22 points, four rebounds, and four assists while forward Jalen Wilson had 13 points coming off the bench with some extended minutes thanks to the amount of injuries.

A major reason that the Nets weren’t able to stick with the Bucks in this one is due to forward Giannis Antetokounmpo dropping 29 points and eight rebounds in his second game back from his adductor strain. Brooklyn didn’t play with the necessary energy needed to beat the better teams on their schedule so here’s three takeaways from Saturday’s loss at the Bucks:

Danny Wolf Breaks Out

As most Nets fans know, Wolf has not played much this season as the Nets have put him in the G League so that he can get reps doing what the coaching staff is expecting from him. With Brooklyn playing on the second night of a back-to-back, Wolf saw 30 minutes off the bench, but that was likely due to the fact that he erupted for 22 points, four rebounds, and four assists to be one of only a few players that had it going.

Jalen Wilson Shows Up

Wilson has seen his minutes drop by more than 10 minutes per game compared to last season so he hasn’t had as many chances to show what he could do on this current Nets roster. With as many injuries as Brooklyn was dealing with heading into Saturday’s matchup with the Bucks, Wilson saw more playing time than usual and had his best game of the season with 13 points, three rebounds, and two assists.

Turnovers Are Still An Issue

Saturday showed that as much as the Nets are trying to figure things out on both ends of the floor, the offensive end will continue to be a tough problem for them to solve with the way that they turn the ball over. Brooklyn committed 20 turnovers, leading to 24 points for Milwaukee, and now, the Nets currently rank 19th in the league in turnovers per game (15.2).
