Wisconsin tight end, former starter to enter NCAA transfer portal

According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Wisconsin junior tight end Tucker Ashcraft intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

Ashcraft became part of the Badgers as a three-star recruit in the 2023 class. He was among several high school talents who pledged to the program following Luke Fickell’s joining toward the conclusion of the 2022 season.

The native of Seattle, Washington, made a significant impact as a true freshman in 2023, recording eight receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown. He followed that performance up with a 12-reception, 82-yard, one-touchdown season in 2024, before finishing with just two catches for 10 yards in four games in 2025. An injury during training camp and the addition of veteran transfer Lance Mason contributed to the decline in both playing time and performance.

Ashcraft plans to enter the portal when it opens on January 2 with two years of eligibility left.

The tight end joins a growing list of important Badgers intending to transfer. As of December 27, that roster also includes two-deep members running back Dilin Jones, wide receiver Eugene Hilton, wide receiver Trech Kekahuna, wide receiver Joseph Griffin Jr., cornerback Geimere Latimer, linebacker Christian Alliegro, linebacker Tackett Curtis, center Jake Renfro, running back Cade Yacamelli, and punter Atticus Bertrams.

Wisconsin’s tight end position is uncertain heading into 2026. Notably, Mason is among several players pursuing an injunction for an additional year of eligibility. The outcome of that case will likely influence the program’s transfer strategy at the position.
