The Bo Bichette sweepstakes just got a lot more interesting with the Chicago Cubs signing Alex Bregman. The Cubs have had quite a week, and now Bichette’s list of potential destinations has narrowed. No matter where he lands, he has a strong market thanks to his flexibility.

“Can confirm Bo Bichette has received interest from multiple teams who view him as a second baseman or third baseman, due to the presence of an established shortstop on those rosters. Further evidence that the World Series augmented his value in the marketplace,” MLB insider Jon Morosi posted.
The Philadelphia Phillies are making a push to get Bichette to agree to a deal, which would position them as favorites to win the NL East again.
“The official spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of ongoing talks, but confirmed a report by The Athletic that the Phillies scheduled a virtual meeting with Bichette on Monday, Jan. 12 to discuss the possibility of joining the Phillies,” USA Today’s Bob Nightengale wrote.
FanSided’s Chris Landers believes the Los Angeles Dodgers may ultimately beat out the Phillies for Bichette.

“And the more you think about it, the more signing Bichette makes a certain sense (especially if the Blue Jays prioritize Tucker instead). Los Angeles has a need to fill at second base, and they’ll have one at third soon enough, with Max Muncy set to hit free agency next winter. This lineup, and this infield in particular, is getting a little long in the tooth, and it’s also a little heavy on lefties — two problems that Bichette could solve with one fell swoop,” Landers wrote.
The Dodgers have yet to make a big-time move like they have in the last couple of offseasons. Securing Bichette wouldn’t be shocking, especially given their future roster needs.
With Kyle Tucker remaining mostly quiet on his free-agent decision, the Dodgers see Bichette as the more likely of the two to sign with LA. They also know that adding Bichette would bolster an already stacked lineup.
