BATON ROUGE – LSU football is expected to land Arizona State transfer quarterback Sam Leavitt, per ESPN.

New Tigers coach Lane Kiffin has been in the transfer portal since it opened in search of his first starting quarterback in Baton Rouge and it would appear the hunt is over. For the Sun Devils the last two seasons, Leavitt threw for 4,513 yards and 34 touchdowns. He also had nine interceptions. Two seasons ago, he led Arizona State to its first and only College Football Playoff berth after winning the Big 12 championship.

Leavitt suffered a Lisfranc injury this past season in September and underwent season-ending surgery in November. It remains to be seen how much, if at all, he would be able to participate in spring practice at LSU due to the recovery process for the foot injury.

This would mark the second quarterback LSU will have added out of the transfer portal as Kiffin and his offensive staff earned a commitment from Elon freshman quarterback Landen Clark Sunday.

When the portal cycle opened, due to the team not having any scholarship quarterbacks on the roster, LSU was expected to sign two quarterbacks.
