Quarterback Josh Allen faced more playoff disappointment as the Denver Broncos triumphed over the Buffalo Bills in overtime, bringing them one victory away from the Super Bowl.
After securing the AFC’s number one seed, Denver enjoyed home field advantage and was ahead 23-10 in the third quarter, but the Bills rallied back to equalize at 30-30.
Allen had the opportunity to seize the win in overtime, yet the Broncos intercepted the ball and successfully kicked a field goal to finish 33-30.
Consequently, despite last week’s success against the Jacksonville Jaguars marking six consecutive seasons with a playoff victory for Buffalo, the current NFL Most Valuable Player has yet to compete in the sport’s pinnacle event.
On the other hand, the Broncos have achieved their first playoff victory since claiming the Super Bowl title for the third time in February 2016.
That Super Bowl was hosted at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, which will also be the venue for this year’s Super Bowl 60 on Sunday, 8 February.
Denver is now poised to anticipate the AFC Conference Championship match next weekend against the victor of the Houston Texans vs. New England Patriots game on Sunday (20:00 GMT).
More updates to come.
