MIAMI — Guard Jalen Williams of Oklahoma City exited the Thunder’s matchup in Miami during the second quarter on Saturday night, reaching for his right hamstring after attempting an awkward pass.
Following an examination, the team announced Williams was diagnosed with soreness in his right thigh and would be sidelined for the rest of the game. Ajay Mitchell replaced Williams in the lineup at the start of the third quarter.
Williams drove into the paint, rotated, and attempted a behind-the-back pass to Chet Holmgren near the basket. He immediately began to hold the back of his leg and stayed in Oklahoma City’s offensive zone as the game progressed.
The Thunder called a timeout eight seconds later, during which Williams received brief attention from team staff before limping off the court towards the locker room.
Before the injury, Williams recorded 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists in 13 minutes of play. He averaged 17.2 points, 5.7 assists, and 4.8 rebounds this season prior to the game. He had also missed the first 19 games of the season while recovering from wrist surgery during the offseason.
