Paramount+, 3:00 pm ET, Zuffa Boxing. From Las Vegas, Nevada. This marks Dana White’s inaugural boxing event with Paramount, and Stumberg recently provided a rather straightforward evaluation of the lineup and the seriousness of this venture that I can’t really surpass or elaborate on. The best I can say about this initial card is that it resembles ProBox but requires a subscription fee and has matchmaking that favors the A-side. At least you can transfer your UFC Fight Pass funds to Paramount and catch Cheers reruns? The main event features Callum Walsh facing Carlos Ocampo. Cain Sandoval will also be in action. Scott and I will provide live coverage, but don’t let that mislead you… We did the same with the first CountryBox: Where Music Meets Boxing. BLH will offer live updates
DAZN, 11:00 pm ET, LA Friday Night Fights. From Long Beach, California. A collaboration between Paco Presents and Golden Boy. The main event is slated to feature Tito Sanchez taking on Eduardo Ramirez, but Paco Presents’ Instagram has also shared a hype video stating this is set for “Junuary 23rd,” so the specifics are rather uncertain. BoxRec suggests the B-side is Jesus Ramirez Rubio, for whatever that implies. Azat “Crazy A” Hovhannisyan is making an appearance to attempt to halt a three-fight losing streak.
DAZN, 8:00 pm ET, Raymond Muratalla vs Andy Cruz. From Las Vegas, Nevada, for Muratalla’s IBF lightweight title. A significant challenge for the unbeaten champion Muratalla, but he has proven commendable in every test he has faced thus far. A considerable advancement to world title competition for Andy Cruz in only his seventh professional bout, but his talent is undeniably evident. A solid matchup! Supporting are two ten-round bouts, with Khalil Coe battling Jesse Hart, and Israil Madrimov facing a lighter challenge compared to his last two bouts, losses to Vergil Ortiz and Terence Crawford. BLH will provide live updates
BASH.TV, 8:00 pm ET, G1: California Dreamin’ (or “Dreaming?” The website and posters are inconsistent!). From Commerce California. More PPV for the masses, this time priced at $29.99 USD. This event could kick off at 9p ET; the main page for BASH and the PPV purchase landing page provide conflicting information as well. Too much daydreaming/dreaming, perhaps. The main event is a six-rounder where 5-0 (2 KO) Lorenzo Powell goes up against 3-7 (3 KO) Alejandro Medina de la Rosa. Adam “Blunose” Lopez will be involved in a six-round support bout.
