It hasn’t even been two weeks since Kevin Patullo’s dismissal as Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator, yet it feels like two months or so. Much has happened, yet it doesn’t seem as though things are progressing.
There’s only one team rostering a head coach without an offensive coordinator. Guess who that team is.

It seemed as though the Eagles’ OC vacancy would have been one of the more desirable jobs the game can offer. Here we sit. The perceived top candidates aren’t interested. The pickings seem slimmer than we previously expected.
Jalen Hurts has received blame for the lack of interest. No one has verified that, but here comes another theory. Anthony Gargano rests the blame squarely on the head coach’s shoulders.
«This whole concept that this was a plum job is just not true. It’s not for various reasons. You got a coach that, if they don’t perform well next year, I’m telling you he’s not going to be back. I don’t care what his record is… If they have a down year next year, he won’t be back.»
What do you think? People have referenced a reported stubbornness from Jalen Hurts. Less often, we have heard theories that align with Nick Sirianni’s job security (or a lack thereof), but it is an intriguing angle.
No one wants to accept a new job only to learn that they’ll be back in the unemployment line a year later. With faith in the Eagles’ head coach waning and reports of Jeffrey Lurie’s growing impatience, no one can guarantee Coach Sirianni’s future beyond next season. Who knows? Maybe the OC will have a shorter leash.

It’s amazing, isn’t it? Sirianni has led the Eagles to five straight postseason appearances and two Super Bowls. He has won one of the latter, but it’s true what they say. The NFL is a ‘what have you done for me lately’ league.
