Blades Brown has turned heads at the American Express in La Quinta, California this week, with a level of play that’s hard to ignore.
The 18-year-old fired a remarkable 12-under-par 60 on Friday at the American Express, putting himself right in the mix and catching plenty of attention.

Now into his tenth appearance on tour, Brown has settled in quickly. He doesn’t look out of place at all among the regulars.
The final round will see him tee it up alongside Scottie Scheffler and Si Woo Kim—a massive opportunity for the teenager to test himself against established names.
He’s also shown plenty of composure throughout the week, playing smart and staying patient when things weren’t falling his way early on. That kind of maturity is rare for someone so new to this level.
If he can pull it off, he’ll become the youngest PGA Tour winner since Charles Kocsis won the 1931 Michigan Open—a remarkable feat for any player, let alone one still new to life on tour.

Justin Rose has had a remarkable career, and his list of achievements speaks for itself.
His US Open title, Olympic gold medal, 26 professional wins, and seven Ryder Cup appearances highlight an impressive resume.
The 45-year-old has managed to stay relevant at the top level of the game for a long time, which is no small feat.
But his early days in professional golf were far from easy.
After turning pro in 1998, he missed 21 straight cuts and struggled to find his footing on tour.
Rose made the leap into the pro ranks right after finishing T-4 at The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale in 1998.

That memorable hole-out on the final green is still fresh in many minds.
Rose began that Sunday fifth on the leaderboard and climbed to fourth with a strong round of 69 in very tough conditions.
Blades Brown is putting on quite the show at the American Express
After shooting a 68 in Saturday’s third round of the American Express, Blades Brown finished the day tied for second and matched a 28-year PGA Tour record originally set by Justin Rose.
He’s now the first player aged 18 or younger to be inside the top five after three rounds of a PGA Tour event since Rose did it at The Open in 1998.
Justin Ray, who is known for his detailed golf stats, shared this information on his official X account:

Matching a record that Justin Rose set nearly three decades ago really shows how well he’s played this week.
