Shakur Stevenson has his next fight set for this weekend when he takes a shot at Teofimo Lopez’s 140 lb title, but there are multiple fighters already calling out Shakur. Recently Raymond Muratalla claimed he wants the winner of Teofimo vs Shakur, and now WBC 130 lb champion O’Shaquie Foster says he also has Shakur on his hit list for a number of reasons. Here’s some of what he had to say below.
Foster on wanting to face Shakur
“I need it, man. I got to have it, man. Like, that’s just somebody that I got to see. That’s my #1 focus as far as by the end of my career that’s who I need to put hands on, that’s Shakur, for sure.
“It’s the fake stuff, the friendly coming to my inbox trying to be friendly but playing both sides with me and Savage [Ford]. Just a lot. He play like he so good, better than everybody, talking about how much money he make and this and that. Even after the fight the fans was asking for the fight, he go on Instagram talking about ‘I make this amount, go starve’ and all that goofy sh-t. So, I want to humble him. I’m going to show him, for sure.”
On how he would deal with Shakur’s elite defensive style
“It just depends on what kind of impregnable defense ya’ll got, because he fought nobody like me, that’s faster than him and stronger than him, and I got distance — I know my distance great. I know how to get in and out and do what I do. And he know what it is, we done worked before. He know what it is. I ain’t even going to go into the sparring but he know what it is. All that defense, great woo, woo, woo — that sh-t out the window. I’m going to touch him.”
On where he thinks he can realistically go next, in a perfect world
“In a perfect world I would’ve gotten Jazza Dickens, the WBA champ. We would’ve fought in March or April. That would’ve been a perfect world right there, but he decided to fight Cacace. And after that I would’ve loved to fight Shakur in the summer on a big show, or unify with the winner of Navarette vs Nunez.”
