The pair has exchanged words on multiple occasions, with McGregor also expressing interest in facing Mike Perry.

Mike Perry’s perspective on the Conor McGregor superfight
“Indeed, Conor has excelled with his promotional efforts alongside the organization,” Perry shared with MMA Fighting while advocating for Friday’s DBX 3 event in Miami. “I’m genuinely pleased to have played a role in bringing him to the ring back in April [2023], allowing us to fight and for him to return to the ring once more… and I understand this, as I was not getting a fight.
“Jeremy mentioned, ‘Ah, that’s the reason he hasn’t been scheduled; they can’t find the suitable match. Nobody wants to take the fight, the right individuals don’t wish to accept, or whatever.’ However, once I committed genuinely and focused intently on my diet, I mean, they had been informing me all year about fighting, but perhaps I wasn’t fully dedicating myself, and I feel that through earnest effort, I started to aim for my best self, no matter the opponent.
“After I aligned myself and maintained that for a few weeks, the calls started coming in, and soon we were scheduled. Facing Conor would be phenomenal because I recognize that he does have the desire, and I understand that he’s very occupied and has positioned himself well in life where fighting isn’t a necessity. Yet, you can observe the passion within him.”
“Everyone recognizes that Conor possesses formidable striking skills. I mean, Eddie was able to land some hits on me. I’m not sure, he was a bit nimble that night. He was moving [well] at that weight class. Conor easily defeated Eddie that night in the UFC [for the lightweight] title to become a double champion.
“I anticipate an entertaining match on Oct. 4. That’s what’s important now, and I’ll continue working on my development, and if I create enough buzz, while putting on an impressive display and performance, I believe the chances of Conor stepping in to fight could indeed be very realistic, and we just take it one day at a time.”
