Alexander won't make Eagles debut in Green Bay

PHILADELPHIA — New Eagles cornerback Jaire Alexander did not accompany the team to Green Bay and will be absent for their matchup with his former team, the Packers, on «Monday Night Football.»

The Eagles have devised a strategy regarding Alexander’s knee and his integration into the defensive scheme, opting for him to remain behind to focus on his training.

Alexander, who is 28 years old, was obtained from the Baltimore Ravens along with a 2027 seventh-round pick in return for a 2026 sixth-round pick just before the NFL trade deadline last week.

Having undergone surgery on his right knee in January, Alexander only played in two games for the Ravens and faced difficulties while on the field. However, he indicated to reporters last week that he is feeling the healthiest he has all year.

«I think when you speak about [him] still being [relatively] young, understanding his current health, feeling healthy, and feeling good, we concluded that the risk was justified by the potential benefits with him,» said Eagles general manager Howie Roseman.

A two-time All-Pro selection in 2020 and 2022, Alexander spent the first seven years of his career with the Packers before they released him in June.
