Jordan Walsh has emerged as the Boston Celtics starting forward over the past few games, dislodging the impressive Josh Minott. The third-year forward has been playing some excellent defense while chipping in where he can on the offensive side of the floor. His athleticism and length have given Joe Mazzulla’s team something its been missing on the wing.
Walsh is still fighting for his NBA future. The Celtics hold a team option for on his contract, which is yet to be picked up. Therefore, every minute Walsh plays is somewhat of an audition. The effort, hustle and professionalism he’s showing when on the court is certainly not going unnoticed, as is his defensive contribution, where he’s willingly picking up opposing teams’ best players.

In fact, during a recent sideline interview, Xavier Tillman dubbed Walsh «The King of the Lockdown» due to the stifling defense he’s been providing when his number gets called. The former second-round pick has played in 11 games this season, averaging 4.5 points and 4.1 rebounds, shooting 48.8% from the field and 41.2% from deep.
