MILWAUKEE — Bucks guard Kevin Porter Jr. will be sidelined for Wednesday’s matchup against the Thunder due to a strained oblique, and «won’t be playing for the foreseeable future,» according to coach Doc Rivers.
Rivers noted that Porter, who has been dealing with the injury for several games, underwent an MRI on Tuesday, and the duration of his absence remains uncertain.
This season, Porter is averaging 16.8 points with a shooting percentage of 44%. However, he has faced difficulties in his last four games, averaging only 8.0 points with a shooting percentage of 26% during that period. For the first time this season, he was transitioned to a bench position during Monday’s game against Atlanta.
He incurred an injury in the season’s opening game, resulting in him missing 19 games. During his absence, the Bucks posted a 7-12 record.
Center Myles Turner will also miss Wednesday’s contest against the Thunder because of a left ankle sprain. Rivers mentioned that Turner is on a day-to-day basis.
“It’s been a consistent challenge for us this season,” Rivers remarked regarding the injury struggles. “We’re not lamenting it. We need to keep striving to win games. Finding a rhythm has been tough, absolutely. But it is what it is. We’ll find a way to adapt.”
