New York Jets safety Andre Cisco is facing an indefinite absence due to a torn pectoral muscle, which will require surgical intervention, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Tuesday evening.
The injury occurred during the final minutes of the Jets’ narrow 39-38 triumph over the Cincinnati Bengals this past Sunday, marking their first win of the current season. Cisco was replaced by the recently benched Tony Adams, who is expected to reclaim his spot in the starting lineup with Cisco unable to participate.
Initially, the Jets had high hopes for Cisco, anticipating his ability to enhance their secondary with his range and knack for playmaking. However, that expectation has not yet been met, as not a single player from the Jets’ defense has recorded an interception this season.
Before this change, both Cisco and Adams were starting safeties; however, just three weeks back, head coach Aaron Glenn opted to replace Adams with rookie Malachi Moore.
The Jets have a bye week ahead, with plans to host the Cleveland Browns on November 9.
