Dan Marino could’ve had a professional baseball career.

He did just fine for himself as the Miami Dolphins’ legendary quarterback, of course. But a new Topps trading card has brought Marino’s ballplaying days back into the spotlight.
Marino played baseball in high school at Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh.
He was good enough to be a fourth-round pick by the Kansas City Royals in the 1979 MLB Draft.
Marino never suited up in the minor leagues, though.
He instead went to Pitt, continued to play QB, and the rest is history.
Marino was a shortstop and pitcher in high school, as many star athletes are, and this trading card is pretty sweet:

It’s certainly a cool idea to give Marino a rare card like that.
It also serves as a fun reminder of an alternate path Marino could’ve taken.
