Grading every New York Giants rookie from the 2025 NFL draft class

The New York Giants finished 4-13 in 2025, just one game better than their 3-13 disaster the year before. It may not offer much hope for the future, but fans are not deterred thanks to a very promising draft class assembled by general manager Joe Schoen and his staff.

Here’s how we rated every rookie on the Giants’ 2025 roster.

Round 1, Pick 3: LB Abdul Carter, Penn State

A slow start prevented Carter from being a serious contender for Defensive Rookie of the Year. A lot of that was scheme-related, as well as a lack of complete focus. Once the Giants switched from Shane Bowen to Charlie Bullen at defensive coordinator, the light went on for Carter. He began to produce tangible numbers and asserted himself as a leader. He is supposed to be a seminal player, a perennial Pro Bowler. So far, he’s 0-1, but things are looking up.

Grade: B

Round 1, Pick 25: QB Jaxson Dart, Mississippi

Youth is wasted on the young, they say, and one can’t help reminding oneself of that every time Dart exposes himself to unnecessary hits. If he can stay healthy, the Giants will have themselves a very special player. He set several rookie records and was overly impressive in his first season, but he has lots to improve on, such as his deep passing game. Bottom line: the Giants appear to have their guy.

Round 3, Pick 65: DL Darius Alexander, Toledo

Alexander fit into the defensive line rotation nicely as the season went on, playing 38 percent of the defensive snaps. He finished the season with 3.5 sacks and looked much more comfortable as the season went on. Good things are coming.

Grade: B

Round 4, Pick 105: RB Cam Skattebo, Arizona State

Anyone who follows the NFL has to know Skattebo by now. He took the league by storm with his smashmouth style and lifted the Giants’ morale singlehandedly. Unfortunately, his ride ended after seven games due to a gruesome ankle injury. But he will be back and, with his infectious toughness, optimism, and desire, will be a leader on this club going forward.

Grade: B

Round 5, Pick 154: OL Marcus Mbow, Purdue

Mbow flashed right away in camp, and the Giants felt they had a possible starter. The only issue was where he was going to play. That usually isn’t a problem with the Giants, as they always have injuries along the line. This season, however, they stayed healthy for the most part, leaving few snaps for Mbow. He played in 13 games, starting three, and played on 324 of the team’s offensive snaps (38 percent). He is poised for a larger role going forward.

Grade: B

Round 7, Pick 219; TE Thomas Fidone, Nebraska

Fidone was hard to miss in training camp, making plays in the passing game. He was a highly-regarded college recruit whose career has been derailed by injuries. This year was no different. He dressed for seven games and ended up on injured reserve (IR) in November with a foot injury. The talent is there. We haven’t heard the last from him.

Round 7, Pick 245: CB Korie Black, Oklahoma State

The Giants cut Black during final cuts, and he ended up on the Jets’ practice squad. The Giants signed him back in October, and he played the final nine games, starting two. He finished the season with 18 tackles, one for a loss. The Giants will surely be bringing Black back in 2026 with the hopes that he can build on his rookie experience.

Grade: C

Undrafted Free Agents

The Giants signed a slew of UDFAs, mainly at wide receiver. Dalen Cambre and Beaux Collins dressed for seven and nine games, respectively, but neither really had much impact. The others spent most of the year on the practice squad or elsewhere. Maybe next year.
