YouTube(?), 6:30 pm ET, Shinard Bunch vs John Paul Magalong. From Trenton, New Jersey. Arnold Gonzalez appears in support, who real die hards may recall from when he started his career on PBC prelims, then later fought on undercards for Top Rank and Tank Davis shows. The promoter’s materials say this is going to stream live on their website and YouTube channel. But, that YouTube channel has zero past live streams, and just three total videos of any type. Nothing more recent than 5 months ago. So… Don’t plan your night around it, but maybe you’ll get some free-to-see boxing. C’mon… Would a boxing promoter ever lie to you, or promise more than they actually deliver? Obviously not!
Kayo Sports (Australia), 4:00 am ET, Nikita Tszyu vs Michael Zerafa. From Brisbane, Australia, for a lesser WBO middleweight title. Zerafa is still just 33 years old! Surprises me every time. He’s got five pro losses, to (in reverse order) Erislandy Lara, Jeff Horn (in a rematch after beating Horn the first time out), Kell Brook, Peter Quillin, and Arif Magomedov (back in 2014! 2014!!). Tszyu is the less heralded, less tested offspring of Kostya Tszyu, moving up to middleweight for the first time. It’s a big step up for him, and if he beats Zerafa, he’s on path to someday become a world champion. Or, the next Arif Magomedov. That’s science. $69.95 Australian gets you the PPV if you’re somewhere in the world that allows you to buy it. You’ll also get support appearances from Liam Wilson and Demsey McKean for your money.
DAZN, 8:00 pm ET, Alexis Rocha vs Raul Curiel 2. From Palm Springs, California. A rematch of their entertaining majority draw from December of 2024. Rocha hasn’t fought since then, while Curiel scored a 5th round KO over Victor Rodriguez on the undercard of Zurdo vs Dorticos back in June. Glad to see the rematch, just wish it hadn’t taken over a year to happen. Undercard includes “Guccy Manny” Flores, Scrappy Ramirez, Ruslan Abdullaev, and Joel Iriarte. Of the lot, Flores has the toughest task, rematching Jorge Chavez, who fought him to a draw on a Thursday night show back in July. Prelims also on DAZN, and they start at 4:30 pm ET. BLH will have live updates.
DAZN, 11:00 am ET, Dream Boxing. From Seydikemer, Turkey. Main event is Sukru Altay vs Albi Sorra at light heavyweight. Six support fights, all four or six rounds.
DAZN, 1:00 pm ET, Freddy Kiwitt vs Suleiman Jafaru. From Flensburg, Germany, with a pair of lesser super welterweight titles on the line. Not a lot here you’ll know unless you’re a German boxing devotee… But, we just saw that Germans can get hype for a fight night, so could be a spirited show. “THEOFFICIALNOTORIOUS” Can Goek is just one of the Germans on the undercard, fighting in a six-rounder.
BASHTV, 9:00 pm ET, House of Pain: War in the Empire. From San Jacinto, California. Not to be confused with the “Jump Around” band, nor the Tyler Perry sitcom that ran for almost 400 episodes. First time I’m hearing of BASH TV, which promises “PPV FOR THE PEOPLE.” Main event features Top Rank-er Albert “Chop Chop” Gonzalez against ProBox and Golden Boy Thursday vet Franklin Gonzalez, who hasn’t won a fight since October of 2021. Samuel Contreras, another Top Rank-er, appears in support. $29.99 American if you’re among The People BASH TV is for.
