‘I have a point to prove’: Jamaine Ortiz looks to topple Keyshawn Davis

As Jamaine Ortiz gets his next big opportunity in a fight against Keyshawn Davis on January 31, he talks to Ring Magazine about the card, what it means, and why it’s important that he capitalize on this fight as he expects a win to lead him back towards another world title shot. Here’s some of what Ortiz had to say below.

Ortiz on whether he has a point to prove in Keyshawn fight

“I definitely have a point to prove. Every fight I have a point to prove. But based on my last couple fights I have to prove it even more, and more convincingly. More in a dominant fashion.”

On ignoring Keyshawn’s pre-fight trash talk

“Maybe those are his strategies to get into a fighter’s heads but he’s not going to get into my head because I don’t even know what he’s saying.”

On believing he has a better skill set than Keyshawn

“Yeah, of course. I think I have a lot more abilities, a lot more tools. And those tools will all be shown on January 31st.”

On Teofimo Lopez vs Shakur Stevenson

“I think it’s a good matchup. I think that Shakur will win the fight and, yeah, I think we’ll see the best of both that night…Hopefully during training camp (Teofimo) learns how to cut off the ring. We’ll see. It’s going to be hard for Teofimo to get some punches off on Shakur, but we’ll see.”
