World champion Luke Littler has revealed he had surgery as a child to correct his eyesight.

The Englishman, now 18, was treated at Warrington Hospital to repair strabismus – a condition where the eyes do not align – although surgery is not always required.

Asked if his life could have played out differently without the operation, world number one Littler said: «Who knows?

«When I was four or five (I) got it sorted. I don’t have memories of it now.

«When I was younger, I didn’t really care. But now you look at it, it was a good thing to get done at the time.»

Littler became the youngest world champion in history when he won the title at the age of 17 in January.

He faces Mensur Suljovic in the third round of this year’s World Championship when play resumes at Alexandra Palace in London on Saturday.
