In eight NBA seasons with the Chicago Bulls, Derrick Rose became the youngest player ever to be crowned league MVP, was named a three time All-Star and led the Bulls to the 2011 Eastern Conference Finals.
He is a Chicago native who became the face of the Bulls franchise and is one of his hometown’s all-time favorite sons.

It is therefore only fitting that the greatest player in Bulls and arguably basketball history has shared his own message for Rose ahead of the 2011 MVP’s jersey retirement ceremony.

Michael Jordan gives Derrick Rose his flowers
Following tonight’s matchup between Chicago and the Boston Celtics, Rose’s No. 1 jersey will be raised up to the rafters of the United Center and will take its’ place alongside the numbers of Bulls legends such as Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan, and Jordan had the following words to say for Rose.
“Derrick, congratulations on your retirement of your jersey. Very happy for you, you had an unbelievable career,” Jordan said in a video, as per @chicagobulls.

“You really represented the city of Chicago, the Chicago Bulls, your family and yourself very, very well so I’m very proud of you and very happy for your special night. Looking forward to coming to the United Center and seeing your jersey hanging up there with my jersey.”
From one Chicago Bulls icon to another, Michael Jordan was more than happy to show nothing but love and excitement for D-Rose ahead of his big night.
