Sofyan Amrabat
Another blow for Morocco just days before the start of AFCON 2025. Sofyan Amrabat picked up an injury yesterday while playing for Betis in the Europa League.
On Thursday evening, Betis hosted Utrecht in the Europa League. At home, coach Manuel Pellegrini fielded a full-strength squad with Sofyan Amrabat and Isco orchestrating play in midfield. But just ten minutes into the match, a misunderstanding saw both players collide violently while contesting the ball.

The Moroccan, facing the play, struck the ball at the same moment as his Spanish teammate, who hadn’t seen him coming. The outcome was serious: both players had to leave the pitch due to injury. Isco exited immediately after the collision, while Amrabat tried to continue for five more minutes before heading to the dressing room.

Amrabat’s injury couldn’t have come at a worse time, with the midfielder set to play in a home AFCON in less than a month.
