No surgery for Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers injured risk

On Tuesday, NFL reporter Tom Pelissero offered an update on the injury status of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. According to Pelissero, Rodgers won’t need surgery on his injured wrist and is pushing to play against the Chicago Bears this week.

As Pelissero noted, Rodgers will have to be cleared by doctors before he can play so we will have to use his practice participation as a guide for his availability this week. If Rodgers cannot go, it would be veteran Mason Rudolph getting the start against the Bears. Rudolph came in for Rodgers in the second half of last week’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals and played well.

Rodgers suffered the injury at the end of the first half last week. Early reports were a broken wrist but there’s been no official word from the team as to a timeline for Rodgers return. The Steelers currently sit at 6-4 and lead the AFC North by one game over the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens and Steelers still have two games against each other to finish out the season.
