The Oregon Ducks walked into Autzen Stadium on Saturday morning with their backs against the wall, needing a win over the No. 15 USC Trojans to keep their College Football Playoff hopes and championship dreams alive. They left on Saturday night with an impressive win, that tested the depth and culture of the squad.
The final score was 42-27, but those numbers don’t tell the entire story. The Ducks were severely shorthanded, and they managed to control the game throughout, leaning on the running game and riding behind a stout defensive line that completely shut down the Trojans’ rushing attack.

The end result gives Oregon a great chance at getting a favorable seed in the CFP, should the take care of business next week against the Washington Huskies, and the West Coast crown over USC once again. In a rivalry like this, the win was bigger than just the result on the field, but it was impactful for the recruiting and culture off the field as well.
Understandably, fans enjoyed the afternoon of dominance. Here’s how they reacted on social media.
Old School Pac-12 Football
Both USC and Oregon have scored on their first possessions of the Pac-12 title game.

Not A Great First Defensive Drive
An awful defensive drive and ended with our linebacker in pass coverage vs Lemon. Just bad. USC 3/3 on third down. A penalty gave them another third down. No pass rush.

Jordon’s Vision is So Good
We Miss the Pac-12!
135 combined yards on the first two drives of the game…this ain’t Iowa and Wisconsin anymore.

Sadiq Season is FUN
Stein Finally Learned
Will Stein deciding to use (maybe being forced with the WR injuries) Sadiq as a WR is such a difference in the offense. No one can guard him.

Malik You’re a Freak
USC’s Special Teams is a Special Kind of Bad
USC’s special teams so far today: Kickoff out of bounds, hit a punt returner after the fair catch, and now a punt return for a touchdown.

What the Hell Was This?
Angry Dan
Nothing Changed
USC is the same soft ass program they’ve been since Carol left. Run the ball till they quit

Bryce Boettcher TD!
We Love Receipts
What Beautiful Timing
First halftime promotion comes seconds after the teams exit the field for halftime. It’s an Oregon student kicking a field goal for some cash from about the same distance as SC’s missed field goal. He drilled it right down the middle.

Sadiq The Freak!
We need to have a real frank conversation about whether Kenyon Sadiq is a human.

Give Him the Mackey!
Incredible Pass from Dante
Geoff’s Take
Fantastic performance from the beat up offensive line. First start for Fox Crader at LT. Hat tip to Charlie Pickard who filled in at center. I was hard on him last season and he was excellent tonight. Rogers (OT5) had to fill in at RT for a bit. Just outstanding. @105CoachTerry
