The New York Jets were tuned into the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Peach Bowl between Indiana and Oregon. As owners of the No. 2 overall selection in the 2026 NFL draft, the Jets were watching both quarterbacks Fernando Mendoza and Dante Moore. Unfortunately, Moore failed to meet expectations.
The Hoosiers blew the Ducks out 56-22 to advance to the National Championship. Mendoza was perfect, throwing five touchdowns while solidifying himself as the quarterback the Las Vegas Raiders will surely pick at No. 1 overall. The Jets, who have been connected to Moore, were probably disappointed.

Moore completed 24-of-39 passing attempts for 285 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. His performance was far worse than those numbers indicate. Moore’s first pass was a pick-six return touchdown. He also lost two fumbles, committing three turnovers during the first half that led to a lopsided halftime lead for Indiana.
Todd McShay says Dante Moore’s agents should call the Raiders to see if he can go No. 1. If not, he advises Moore to return to school rather than risk being drafted by the Jets.

Moore has yet to officially declare for the 2026 NFL draft. His lackluster performance indicated he would benefit from another season of college development. The Jets are anxiously awaiting his decision.
Furthermore, even if Moore does declare, are we positive the Jets will be impressed enough to draft him? They are desperate for a franchise quarterback, but Darren Mougey and Aaron Glenn can’t afford to whiff on this decision. Moore didn’t play like a quarterback ready to enjoy instant success in the NFL, especially on an under-repair roster like the Jets.
