Rams have highest probability to earn No. 1 seed in NFC playoffs, per Next Gen Stats

The Los Angeles Rams are currently the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoff picture heading into Week 12.

However, Next Gen Stats’ playoff predictor gives L.A. the highest probability to take the top seed from the Philadelphia Eagles, earn a first-round bye and have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

The Rams’ 42% chance to finish No. 1 in the NFC is just 1% better than the Eagles’ 41% chance despite Philadelphia owning the head-to-head tiebreaker from their Week 3 showdown.

However, the Rams’ schedule down the stretch is tough, especially in Week 12 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Per NFL.com’s Ali Bhanpuri, Tampa and L.A. are the only two teams of the 10 with the hardest remaining strength of schedule with a winning record. The Rams also face the Detroit Lions, the Arizona Cardinals twice, the Carolina Panthers and the Seattle Seahawks again.

L.A. is in the driver’s seat for the division title and possible No. 1 seed, though, at 8-2. But even if they win all of their remaining games, the Rams still need the Eagles to drop at least one game so the head-to-head tiebreaker is proven moot.
