Sources: Man City agree deal with Palace for Guéhi

Manchester City is nearing the acquisition of Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace, as per sources with ESPN.

Negotiations for the transfer have gained momentum in the last day, and the England defender is now anticipated to finalize a long-term deal at the Etihad Stadium shortly.

A definitive agreement remains to be established, but sources from City express optimism about the closure of the deal.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner disclosed at a press conference on Friday that Guéhi will be absent from their team for the Premier League match against Sunderland on Saturday.

«My current understanding is that a negotiation with Marc is in the concluding stages,» Glasner stated.

«I can’t confirm a team, as it’s still pending, but it’s in the final stages. Therefore, Marc will not be participating tomorrow for us.»

Sources indicate to ESPN that City plans to pay a foundational fee of approximately £20 million ($26.8m) for Guéhi, who was expected to become a free agent this summer, along with potential add-ons.

The 25-year-old has also informally sanctioned a five-and-a-half year contract that would bind him to the Etihad until 2031.

City sources have mentioned that Guéhi has long been a target, with negotiations intensifying after injuries sidelined centre-backs Josko Gvardiol, Rúben Dias, and John Stones.

Guéhi’s potential move to Liverpool fell through on deadline day last summer and he was the target of significant interest from clubs throughout Europe anticipating he would become a free agent this summer.
