Quarterback Byrum Brown from South Florida has entered the transfer portal and has plans to visit Auburn this weekend, where he may reunite with former Bulls coach Alex Golesh, sources verified to ESPN on Saturday.
Sources indicated to ESPN that Auburn is Brown’s probable destination, offering a significant boost to one of the least effective Power 4 conference offenses this year.
Brown, a senior hailing from Raleigh, North Carolina, has one year of eligibility left. On3 was the first to report that he would be visiting Auburn.
Dropped in the rankings, Boise State and then-No. 13 Florida both fell to No. 18 in the AP poll.
During his four years at USF, Brown accumulated 7,690 passing yards with 61 touchdowns and rushed for 2,265 yards with 31 touchdowns.
Auburn (5-7) was rated 99th in FBS for passing (197.1 YPG) and 74th in scoring (26.8 PPG) in 2025.
The Tigers’ leading three quarterbacks — Jackson Arnold, Ashton Daniels, and Deuce Knight — are all anticipated to enter the transfer portal.
Golesh was appointed on Nov. 30 to succeed former Tigers coach Hugh Freeze, who was dismissed after a 4-5 beginning. Auburn has faced five consecutive losing seasons under Freeze and Bryan Harsin.
