Texans defender shares key to slowing Colts' offense in Week 13 game

Houston Texans’ safety Calen Bullock appeared on ‘Good Morning Football’ and shared his thoughts on what it takes to stop the Indianapolis Colts’ offense.

“We gotta stop the run,» Bullock said. «That’s their whole offense. The whole offense go through Jonathan Taylor. He’s the best back this year for the Colts. And that’s just our game plan, going in here, stop him, and once you stop him we feel like the offense don’t have nothing else, I would say.”

Taylor has had some big performances against Houston, which includes rushing for 188 yards in Week 18 of the 2023 season and then totaling 105 yards on the ground in Week 8 of last season.

Of course, for every Colts’ opponent, finding a way to contain Taylor is going to be a priority. However, while he’s obviously important to the Colts’ offense, he certainly isn’t all Indianapolis has either.

Among all quarterbacks, Daniel Jones ranks seventh in completion rate, fifth in yards, tied for fourth in yards per attempt, and tied for 13th in touchdowns.

Tight end Tyler Warren ranks third among his position group in receiving yards. Alec Pierce and Michael Pittman have both eclipsed the 600-yard receiving mark, with Pierce in particular being one of the best downfield threats in football.

As an offensive unit, the Colts rank first in points per game and are fourth in yards per pass attempt.

“It’s gonna be a dog fight,» Bullock added. «Last year, both games came to the wire. It’s going to be a hard fighting battle. It’s gonna be tough. Daniel Jones he makes a lot of throws. He believes in his receivers. They’re offense, they execute the plays they’re supposed to execute.”

Although the Colts certainly have the firepower in the passing game to hurt opponents, something we’ve seen for much of the year, having some semblance of a running game to lean on will be important.

Indianapolis is up against one of the more disruptive fronts in football this week, and consistently operating from behind the sticks and in obvious passing situations is not going to be a recipe for success on offense.
