Tyson Fury’s return to boxing is officially set.
The “Gypsy King” will break his latest “retirement” when he steps back into the ring on Saturday, April 11. An exact location has not been announced, but Turki Alalshikh put out a press release stating that the bout will be in the United Kingdom, and Fury will be facing Arslanbek Makhmudov, who had been the leading rumor in recent days.
The fight will air on Netflix, with whom Fury has worked on one of those TV series that claims to be a documentary.
“Excited to be back,” Fury said in the release. “Heart’s always been and always will be in boxing. Someone go tell the king that the ace is back!”
“I am thrilled about the opportunity,” said Makhmudov. “I’m coming to deliver a war. Tyson Fury has been a big champion. I will be more reading than ever to leave with a massive W.”
Fury (34-2-1, 24 KO) has not fought since a pair of losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024, and will have been out of action for 16 months upon his return. The 37-year-old ex-champion will be a clear favorite against the 36-year-old Makhmudov (21-2, 19 KO), who got himself this chance with a UK win over Dave Allen last October. Makhmudov has been battered in defeats to Agit Kabayel and Guido Vianello in 2023 and 2024, and while big, imposing, and likable, the Russian-Canadian also has a limited skill set.
The return is meant for Fury to shake rust ahead of a big fight — possibly with WBO champ Fabio Wardley — later in the year. But Makhmudov does have the power to be dangerous, and you have to fight the fight at the end of the day.
