Week 12 NFL Injury notables: Joe Burrow to play? Lamar Jackson returns

The NFL has worked tirelessly over the past several years to minimize concussions. Lately, it seems the next epidemic on the football field is ACL injuries, which appear to be made of Jell-O. It has been a season littered with injuries, and Week 12 is no different. There is a chance Joe Burrow could return to the Bengals as early as this week, but it’s unlikely.

Joe Burrow did take first-team reps with the Bengals on Thursday, and the rumor mill has started to spin with talk of Burrow playing as early as Week 12. Which would be nothing short of remarkable, but Cincinnati needs to play it smart, dealing with a toe injury. Any slight motion the wrong way could put Burrow on the shelf for another few weeks. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor would all but put to bed those rumors.

«I’m not there yet,» when Taylor was asked about Burrow playing on WLW radio. «One day at practice isn’t going to lead to that decision yet.»

Lamar Jackson has been dealing with knee and hamstring injuries all season, but a new ailment has recently surfaced. He missed practice on Wednesday but returned to Thursday’s session. Indications are still unclear on whether he will suit up.

Aaron Rodgers fractured a bone in his left wrist in Week 11, but his status will rely on pain tolerance to be the deciding factor on whether he can go against the Chicago Bears or not. He has been seen at practice wearing a wrist stabilizer.

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart suffered a concussion two weeks ago against the Chicago Bears. Dart seems to be heading towards clearing protocol, and could go for Week 12.

Packers running back Josh Jacobs avoided any significant damage to his knee last week after leaving the game against the Giants. He will be required to undergo additional individual drills to assess his playing situation.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott hurt his hip against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night, but has said he intends to play and has done so in the past with more soreness than he is experiencing now.
