Former Wisconsin quarterback Billy Edwards is visiting head coach Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Edwards entered the transfer portal on Friday after one year with the Badgers. He transferred to the program last offseason as Wisconsin overhauled its quarterback room following a change at offensive coordinator. The veteran would attempt only 16 total passes as a Badger, however. He missed most of the 2025 season after suffering a knee injury during the team’s opener against Miami (Ohio).

Edwards is now in the portal with a final year of eligibility remaining. He’s set to join the fourth program of his college career, following one season at Wake Forest in 2021, three at Maryland from 2022-24 and one at Wisconsin.
North Carolina, meanwhile, is fresh off a 4-8 2025 season. The campaign, which was Belichick’s first at the helm, was the program’s first without a bowl appearance since 2018.
