TEMPE, Ariz. — The Arizona Cardinals are gearing up to have quarterback Kyler Murray start on Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys, as confirmed by coach Jonathan Gannon on Thursday.
Murray has been sidelined for the last two games due to a foot injury but had the opportunity to rest it during the Cardinals’ bye week last week.
When queried about the criteria for determining Murray’s readiness to return, Gannon stated: «Get him fully healthy, play.»
He also mentioned that there is no significant advantage for Arizona in delaying the official announcement of a starter until later in the week.
Gannon observed that the extra week of recovery was beneficial for «everybody,» not exclusively for Murray. He noted that the offensive and defensive practice pace on Tuesday was «really good.»
«You start playing games and the train’s rolling I think for everybody,» Gannon remarked. «They’re rested and it looks a little bit different, so it was very beneficial.»
Following a strong start of 2-0, the Cardinals have now fallen to five consecutive losses and are currently positioned at the bottom of the NFC West.
