HOUSTON — Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins has cleared concussion protocols and is ready to return to action against the Denver Broncos in Week 9, he announced on Thursday.
«Grateful to be off the protocol,» Collins stated. «I’m feeling great and excited about this week’s thrilling matchup.»
Additionally, Texans wideout Christian Kirk, who has been sidelined for the last two weeks and missed four games overall due to a hamstring issue, is also anticipated to make his comeback. Kirk has accumulated 10 receptions for 109 yards this season.

Collins sustained a concussion in the fourth quarter during the Texans’ defeat against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7. The Pro Bowl receiver hit the back of his head while attempting to secure a back-shoulder throw from quarterback C.J. Stroud, being closely guarded by Seattle’s Josh Jobe.
He missed the previous week’s victory over the San Francisco 49ers, during which Stroud delivered a season-high 318 passing yards and matched his career best with 30 completions.
The Texans’ receiving core rose to the occasion against the 49ers with third-year player Xavier Hutchinson recording 69 receiving yards and a touchdown, while rookie Jaylin Noel added a notable 63-yard performance. Fellow newcomer Jayden Higgins notched his second career touchdown, and Braxton Berrios contributed with crucial receptions to convert third downs.
Collins tops the team in receiving yards (339) and ranks second in receptions (26), and his presence in the lineup against the Broncos is likely to ease the pressure on Stroud to continue building on last week’s successful outing.
