CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Running back Rico Dowdle of the Carolina Panthers performed just a pair of pelvic thrusts.

An official flagged Dowdle for unsportsmanlike conduct during the game on Sunday, resulting in a 15-yard penalty applied to the extra-point attempt, which Carolina’s kicker, Ryan Fitzgerald, ultimately missed. However, Fitzgerald later redeemed himself with a game-winning kick, allowing the Panthers to narrowly defeat Lambeau Field with a score of 16-13. Some might argue the penalty was unwarranted, as six others joined in on the celebration—making it technically twelve thrusts.
Tight end Tommy Tremble questioned the official’s perspective on the incident.
«I suppose he did, man, because I couldn’t believe we did anything wrong,» Tremble expressed. «I guess we’ll take this as a lesson. We’ll let Rico handle the celebrations going forward.»
Dowdle expressed relief that his 19-yard dash in the final minute positioned them for the game-winning field goal, serving as a counterbalance to his penalty.
«You’re generally allowed two thrusts, right?» Dowdle remarked afterward. «That’s my impression. We [discuss] these things every weekend. I really believe you should get two thrusts.»
