Sources: Jaguars land WR Meyers from Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders have reached an agreement to trade wide receiver Jakobi Meyers to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for fourth- and sixth-round draft selections, according to sources familiar with the situation, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday.

Several franchises, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, expressed interest in acquiring Meyers, who is poised to hit free agency after the conclusion of this season.

Meyers has publicly stated his desire to be traded multiple times this season, including last week when he expressed to reporters his wish «to be in a good position.»

He now joins the Jaguars, who recently placed rookie Travis Hunter (knee) on injured reserve and witnessed Brian Thomas Jr. sustain an ankle injury during Sunday’s overtime victory against the Raiders.

Meyers is in the concluding year of a three-year, $33 million deal signed in 2023, following four seasons with the New England Patriots. He carries a cap hit of $14.98 million for 2025, although there is no guaranteed money left on his contract.

While Meyers was open to negotiating a new contract in the offseason, the two sides could not agree on terms, leading to his trade request in August, which the Raiders initially rebuffed.

Since entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2019, Meyers has played under nine starting quarterbacks, including five within two seasons in Las Vegas. Despite this, he has maintained productive performance with 422 receptions for 4,921 yards and 20 touchdowns over 97 career games (76 starts). The 28-year-old has surpassed 800 receiving yards for four consecutive seasons and boasts a minimal career drop rate of 1.8%, which could benefit a Jaguars team currently leading the league with 19 dropped passes this season.

After a solid season in 2024 with Geno Smith at the helm, where Meyers caught 87 passes for a personal best of 1,027 yards and four touchdowns, expectations were that he would enhance those numbers this year. However, he has only managed 33 receptions for 352 yards without a touchdown in seven games.

ESPN’s Ryan McFadden contributed to this report.
