The New York Jets had a very loud trade deadline day on Tuesday.
The Jets were responsible for pulling off the two biggest trades thanks to their deals with the Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts that sent Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner packing.
While it was tough to part ways with two of their best players, the Jets are now loaded with first-round picks, including two in the 2026 NFL draft.
The Sporting News’ Vinnie Iyer thinks the Jets will address offense with both of those picks.
First, he predicts New York will draft Oregon quarterback Dante Moore with the No. 3 overall pick, which would be the Jets’ original selection.
«Moore has lived up to his recruiting hype with his savvy, big-play ability, and leadership skills,» Iyer said. «He can make all the throws with accuracy from short to intermediate to deep. He has the makeup to handle the responsibility of being the next franchise QB shot.»
Then, Iyer predicts the Jets will use the pick acquired from the Sauce trade to land Washington wideout Denzel Boston at the end of the first round.
«The Jets need a big, big-play threat to help Garrett Wilson and Boston has the ideal size and speed to be their version of Mike Evans on the outside for their new QB, in this case, Moore,» Iyer explained.
The Jets sport one of the worst offenses in the NFL and quarterback Justin Fields is not the answer New York was hoping he’d be. Adding to that, the cupboard is extremely bare at wide receiver behind Garrett Wilson.
Knowing all that, we could definitely see the Jets going heavy on the offense in the first round of next year’s draft, although defensive-minded head coach Aaron Glenn might interject and desire a defensive player with one of those two picks.
Moore is tracking to be one of the top quarterbacks prospects in 2026. He has 1,772 passing yards and 19 touchdowns to just four picks through eight games, and his impressive accuracy is displayed even more by his 71.4% completion rate.
Boston is on pace to finish with better numbers than he did in 2024, when he had 834 yards and nine scores. In 2025, Boston has 668 yards and seven touchdowns through eight games and could work his way into first-round consideration.
While it remains to be seen if the Jets would go all offense with their first two picks in next year’s draft, it remains a realistic possibility given the overall putrid state of things with New York’s flailing unit in 2025.
