Last season, Liverpool really kicked their season into gear with two impressive, back to back displays against Real Madrid and Manchester City. After Liverpool impressively dispatched Real mid-week, they have a chance to do the same again, albeit this time on the road to City.
Last season’s win at teh Etihad notwithstanding, it hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for The Reds; even Klopp’s greatest sides failed to get all three points over the line in the league. However, if Liverpool can return to Merseyside with a win, they could potentially shake off the early season rough patch as just that, and potentially kick on in the league. That’s certainly the scenario I’d most prefer.
