A winter storm threw a wrench into the Illinois high school football finals schedule, but the rest of the champions will be crowned this week.

Four teams already have lifted the trophy, with the 1A through 4A title games completed on Black Friday at Illinois State. Top seed Montini closed out those proceedings by winning the 4A championship behind star quarterback Israel Adams.
The top two teams in the state according to the MaxPreps rankings, Mt. Carmel and Brother Rice, will play for titles. Beyond them, unpredictability has been the rule throughout the playoffs; Montini in 4A is the only No. 1 seed besides Mt. Carmel to reach the title game.
The only other top seed to reach a championship game, Mt. Carmel, is still to play in the 8A final. The Caravan are the top team in the state according to the MaxPreps rankings. No. 2 is Brother Rice, which has lost only to Mt. Carmel and will play for the 7A crown.
