Cowboys WR Lamb suffers concussion, ruled out

DETROIT — Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has been declared out for Thursday’s contest against the Detroit Lions due to a concussion sustained in the third quarter.

While attempting to catch a fade pass from Dak Prescott in the end zone, Lamb’s head collided with the ground upon landing. He displayed a fencing response with his arms outstretched, prompting Prescott to rush over to check on him. Following further assessment in the medical tent, he was officially ruled out for the remainder of the game.

As Javonte Williams scored the Cowboys’ initial touchdown of the night, Lamb exited the medical tent and made his way to the locker room. Prior to the injury, Lamb recorded six receptions for 121 yards.

In Lamb’s absence, the Cowboys will rely on receivers George Pickens, Ryan Flournoy, KaVontae Turpin, and Jonathan Mingo.

This isn’t Lamb’s first concussion; he previously suffered one in 2021 against the Kansas City Chiefs, which caused him to miss a game. Last season, he was sidelined for the last two games due to a shoulder injury.

Earlier this season, Lamb missed three games because of a high ankle sprain. With his 121 yards on Thursday, he tied Tony Hill for the second-most 100-yard receiving games in franchise history, amassing 26 such games. Michael Irvin, a Hall of Famer, holds the record with 47. This marked Lamb’s fifth 100-yard game this season.
