Not-so-good update on Tyran Stokes for Kentucky Wildcats Basketball

The Kentucky Wildcats basketball recruiting operation got some tough love recently, as several different factors were revealed for the reasons the staff is struggling on the recruiting trail. With insight from several different agents and sources in the recruiting world, Jack Pilgrim and Jacob Polacheck of KSR did a great job of bringing to light several issues.

Unfortunately, those issues seem to be costing the Cats their top target on their big board.

Joe Tipton of On3 and Rivals released an update on 5-star forward and No. 1 overall player, Tyran Stokes, and it was another not-so-great update for those in the BBN.

Down to a final three of UK, Oregon, and Kansas, Vanderbilt all entered the picture with an offer this week. Now although it seems highly unlikely that Stokes will end up in Nashville, Tipton thinks things are trending in the right direction for Stokes to end up with Bill Self and the Jayhawks.

“Since then, those familiar with the situation say Kentucky has slipped while Kansas has picked up steam. I am told a return visit to Lawrence is possible. The wrinkle here is Stokes’ recent NIL shoe deal with Nike. Nike would naturally favor a Nike school, and Kansas being an adidas program complicates that. If the Jayhawks can navigate that hurdle, which I believe is possible, then Bill Self and Kansas would emerge as the favorite.”

Looks like there could be another major whiff coming for Pope and his staff. Got to get this corrected soon.
