There was a major emphasis in the Chicago Bears locker room this week, specifically from head coach Ben Johnson and quarterback Caleb Williams, on getting off to a faster start to their offense.
Williams was able to do just that against the top passing defense in the league, in the Cleveland Browns, throwing for 155 passing yards and scoring two touchdowns in the first half while maintaining consistency throughout the game.

In the end, Williams finished the game with 242 passing yards, two touchdowns (both to receiver DJ Moore) and no interceptions to propel the Bears to the 31-3 victory. After the game Williams spoke about getting out to the 14-0 start in the win and wanting to diminish any chance of positive momentum for the Browns.
«Yeah, extremely important,» Williams said. «You want to start the game off every week like that, but definitely this week. Not allowing them to get going, not allowing them to feel maybe some energy or feel they can — that they can beat us, that’s our mindset going into this game, and starting fast and kind of diminishing any thoughts that may pop up of positivity on their side, that’s the mindset going into these games.»
The Bears can now only hope that they can build off of their fast start in Sunday’s win, as each of their next three games (vs. Green Packers, at San Francisco 49ers, vs. Detroit Lions) will be of the utmost importance for their hopes in the playoff race.
