Tommy Lloyd’s Arizona Wildcats continued their run of unbeaten non-conference games with a 96-62 route of Abilene Christian. The number one ranked Wildcats are 10-0 for the second time under Lloyd. Arizona has scored 93 or more points in seven games this season and have averaged 95 points in the safety of the McKale Center.
Arizona’s two primary stars Koa Peat and Jaden Bradley were able to take their foot off the pedal scoring just 20 points on seven combined field goal attempts. Bradley was able to score all ten of his points without making a shot from the field, becoming the first Arizona player in at least three decades to accomplish that feat.

Brayden Burries Reaches A Boil
Arizona freshman Brayden Burries took some time to get his feet under him but it seems he is not past that stage of development. Averaging almost 20 points in his last five games while limiting turnovers and continuing to grow on defense. Burries has the fanbase buzzing for good reason.
On the season Burries’ shooting splits are only getting more efficient as the season wears on. The freshman has seen positive increases his field goal, three point and effective field goal percentages over the last 5 games as well.

The combo-guard has also been extremely proficient in transition as he is currently in the 99th percentile for fast break points per 40.

Winning games while Burries acclimated to the college game was a luxury that Arizona can now begin to enjoy as he comes into his own. Arizona’s youth continues to develop and they remain unbeaten.
Sidi Stands Out
Member of the bench mob and project player Sidi Gueye had his breakout moment of the season in this one showing flashes of high level athleticism, transition play and rim protection.
Gueye put up four points but more importantly, racked up three blocks and a steal in just nine minutes of play. It seems that Gueye is potentially close to seeing some more playing time as he continues to improve.

Arizona Headed Back North
Arizona’s next game is set for the Mortgage Matchup Center as they will take on the visiting San Diego State University Aztecs. SDSU has had a disappointing start to their season losing in double-overtime to Troy, getting picked apart by Michigan and falling to Baylor.

SDSU lacks true size outside of their star center Magoon Gwath. The Cats should be able to take advantage of their edge in size and skill at the front court positions yet again in this one.
This upcoming game will take place on Saturday, December 20th at 8:30pm MST on ESPN2. For more information on this game and upcoming Arizona athletics events, tune into the AZ Wildcats Podcast hosted by Damon Fairall and Kevin Thomas.
