JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars have finalized a contract extension with wide receiver Jakobi Meyers on Thursday, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, amounting to $60 million and securing his position with the team until the end of the 2028 season.
The agreement features $40 million in guaranteed money, according to insiders.
Earlier in the season, the Jaguars traded 2026 fourth- and sixth-round picks to the Las Vegas Raiders to acquire Meyers before the trade deadline on November 4. Meyers has made a significant impact, tallying 27 receptions for 355 yards and three touchdowns across six games with the Jaguars, who sought to retain him as he was set to hit free agency post this season.
His addition has markedly enhanced the Jaguars’ offensive capabilities alongside quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Since Meyers joined, the team boasts a 5-1 record while averaging 31.8 points per game, ranking second in the NFL behind the Los Angeles Rams at 34.0 points. During this stretch, Lawrence has thrown 14 touchdown passes against just five interceptions, three coming in a single outing.

Prior to acquiring Meyers, the Jaguars were only managing 20.4 points per game, placing them 23rd in the league, and Lawrence recorded nine touchdown passes against six interceptions over his first eight games.
Injuries played a crucial role in the decision to bring Meyers on board — with Travis Hunter sidelined for the season and Brian Thomas Jr. and Dyami Brown suffering from significant injuries at the time of trade — but also due to his consistent performance. The Jaguars were struggling with drop issues, leading the league with 19 total drops, including five from Thomas, whereas Meyers had limited his career drops to just 11 over seven years.
Jaguars general manager James Gladstone praised Meyers for his exceptional reliability the day following the trade, calling it his superpower. Now 29, Meyers has recorded only one drop this season and has never exceeded two drops in a single season.
In terms of career statistics, Meyers has achieved 453 catches for 5,299 yards and 23 touchdowns since starting as an undrafted rookie free agent with the New England Patriots in 2019. Over four seasons, he accumulated 235 receptions for 2,758 yards and eight touchdowns before joining the Raiders on a three-year, $33 million contract in 2023.
While with the Raiders, Meyers secured 191 receptions for 2,186 yards and 12 touchdowns across 38 games.
