LA Clippers center Ivica Zubac is set to be sidelined for several weeks because of a Grade 2 left ankle sprain, sources informed ESPN’s Shams Charania on Sunday.
Zubac left the game during the first half of Saturday’s 103-88 victory against the Los Angeles Lakers and did not come back. He fell to the ground in a pile late in the first quarter and promptly limped to the locker room for assessment after Brook Lopez took his place. Zubac concluded the game with five points and two rebounds over 11 minutes.
Prior to the matchup, Lakers center Jaxson Hayes mentioned that Zubac — who was averaging 16 points and 11.5 rebounds before the game — would pose a significant challenge.
«Zu is a beast, man,» Hayes remarked after the Lakers’ morning shootaround on Saturday. «He’s, honestly, I feel like one of the most underrated bigs in the league, man. If you face him, you know he’s tough. Zu has been a force for years.»
