The Jacksonville Jaguars are now winners of six in a row following a 34-20 victory over the Denver Broncos.
The Jaguars are now 11-4 on the season.
With the dust having settled on Sunday’s Week 16 game, let’s highlight the good, the bad, and the ugly from the Jaguars’ performance.

The good from the Jaguars’ Week 16 win vs. Broncos
Trevor Lawrence: Another stellar performance from Lawrence. He was 23-of-36 passing for 279 yards with four total touchdowns. Lawrence was efficient, played in rhythm, took care of the football, and made plays with his legs.
Parker Washington: It seems like all that Washington does is make plays. Against Denver, he had a huge performance, totaling 145 yards on six receptions with a touchdown. This included a catch-and-run of 63 yards.
Jaguars’ third down offense and defense: Even without a strong running game, the Jaguars were very good on third downs, converting 8-of-15 attempts. A success rate of over 50% would lead the NFL over the course of this season. On the other side of the ball, the Jaguars’ defense, who did give up a lot of yards, got off the field, holding Denver to 5-for-14 on third downs. The Broncos were also 1-for-3 on fourth downs.

Red zone offense: The Jaguars took advantage of their scoring opportunities, converting four of their five red zone visits into touchdowns.
Very few penalties: The Jaguars have been one of the most penalized teams in football this season. However, against Denver, Jacksonville was penalized only two times for 20 yards.
Jaguars’ chances of getting the AFC’s No. 1 seed: With the win, the Jaguars remain in the mix for the conference’s top seed in the playoffs. At 11-4, the Jaguars now trail the 12-3 Broncos by only one game and hold the head-to-head tie-breaker.
More takeaways for the defense: The Jaguars added two more turnovers to their season total against Denver. This gives them 10 in their last three games. A Denver fumble turned into three points for the Jaguars’ offense, while an interception late in the fourth quarter helped put the game out of reach.

The bad from the Jaguars’ Week 16 win vs. the Broncos
Run game can’t get going: In defense of the Jaguars, very few teams have found success running the ball against the Broncos. This has been one of the best run defenses in football. The Jaguars totaled just 81 rushing yards on 27 carries — averaging 3.0 yards per attempt. This forced Jacksonville to be pass-heavy at times, but Lawrence responded. In recent weeks, the Jaguars have had trouble getting the run game going.
Big plays allowed by the defense: Bo Nix averaged nearly 8.0 yards per pass attempt. Denver had four passing plays of at least 26 yards and several rushes of at least 12 yards, including a long of 38 yards. The Broncos also totaled over 400 yards of offense.
The ugly from the Jaguars’ Week 16 win vs. the Broncos
I’ve said this before, but there are always things for a team to clean up, no matter the outcome of a game. But for the Jaguars to go into Denver, who had won 11 in a row, and to win by two touchdowns, that is an all-around excellent outing in all three phases. So we won’t be putting anything in the ‘ugly’ category this week.
