WWE Reportedly Interested In Bringing In TNA Titleholder For Current European Tour

WWE is presently on a tour across Europe that began with a house show in Leipzig, Germany on January 8 and will conclude in Belfast, Ireland on January 19. During the show in Berlin on Friday, attendees witnessed the contentious victory by Drew McIntyre on «SmackDown». McIntyre faced WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes in a 3 Stages of Hell match with the championship at stake. A returning Jacob Fatu intervened, attacking both McIntyre and Rhodes during the third stage, a steel cage match. As Fatu assaulted Rhodes, McIntyre exited the ring to claim victory and the championship.

As they continue their European tour, a TNA talent’s name has surfaced for potential competition. PWInsider Elite confirms WWE’s interest in recruiting TNA X-Division Champion, Leon Slater. Although Slater has not been confirmed, PWInsider Elite indicates that there is a proposal for him to join Je’Von Evans. Initially, it was reported that next week’s «Raw» would be in London, which is inaccurate as the January 16 episode of «SmackDown» is scheduled to occur at Wembley Stadium in London. Evans recently signed with «Raw» and Monday’s episode will take place at SSE Arena in Belfast. Evans secured a win against Bravo Americano on the January 12 episode.

Oba Femi triumphed over Slater to win the NXT Championship at New Year’s Evil. Slater and Evans last teamed to challenge the then Raw Tag Team Champions, AJ Styles and Dragon Lee during Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13. They also previously vied for the NXT tag titles against DarkState last November.

Slater is reported to be contracted with TNA until the end of this year. While not officially announced for an appearance, Thursday Night iMPACT will make its AMC debut on January 15 live from Dallas, Texas. He is set to defend his title against Cedric Alexander and Moose at the Genesis pay-per-view on Saturday, January 17.
